If you are planning your own trip and have some questions to ask or would like to see other information that is not posted here, please don't hesitate to contact me! I would love to help other troops have a successful trip... someone ought to benefit from all we learned!
Thank you for sharing this! I have a troop of Brownies, so no travel yet, but hopefully someday!
ReplyDeleteI would like to know what types of events and things you did to fundraise. Thank you. Mindy - Leader 40275
ReplyDeleteCookies - my daughter and I agreed to sell 1000 boxes to qualify for our Council's travel bonus specifically for older girls. We also sold "Cookies From Home" by the case to area business's (council then donates the cookies to active military)
ReplyDeleteService Unit Events - we did quite a few over the years
Sock Hop - well received and pretty easy to pull together
CIA Camp Weekend & PIrate Camp Weekend - these can pull in several thousand dollars if you are thrifty and creative with your planning
Annual Cookie Rally - themed with the cookie sale's theme.
Gift Cards - families purchased gift cards and the troop gets a profit on each. most successfully before xmas. one family bought enough to pay for all their christmas shopping.
Spaghetti Dinners - these were a bust for us, but others have had great success
Flea Market - tried to host a monthly flea market, but again we had little success getting enough vendors to make it worth it. i still believe with the right location this idea could be easy and profitable.
Used Book Sale - we ended up with 1000s of donated books and we made about $1000 dollars over 2 days. LOTS of work though carting all those books around.
Hope it helps!!
